Show Me, Tell Me
Before or after your drive, your examiner will ask you two or three ‘show me, tell me’ questions.
All good driving instructors will talk and walk you through the answers using their car, or another car if you are using that for your test.
Your driving instructor will show you under the bonnet of the car and teach you to identify the parts of the engine that you need to know.
You will need to know all about the lights, such as how to turn them on, how to turn the fog lights on and where your indicator is. Your instructor will also show you how to use your demisters, for both front and back windows, and the windscreen wipers, including how to clean the windows.
Learn how to check the power steering on the car. Ask your instructor how to recognise when it’s working and how to check before a journey.
A very important check is identifying that your brakes are working fully and that it is safe for you to drive. The examiner might also ask other maintenance questions, such as regarding your tyres or the head restraint.
Please download a copy of the ‘show me, tell me’ questions and talk through them with your instructor.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope it helps you pass your driving test.
